June WLLID Board Report

The WLLID Board met on 10 June 2026 at the Wasa Community Hall.

Trustee Jan submitted her resignation from the Board in late May. We thank Jan for all her work and commitment to the WLLID and the community.

The WLLID Board will host a public meeting on 17th June, 2026, to present the Larratt Aquatic report on their findings from a study into Water Quality and Sediment Assessment. The gathering of water and sediment samples took place during summer 2025. The report outlines the methodology used to gather water and sediment samples along with detailed results from chemical analysis.

For those who are not able to attend the meeting in-person, it will be live streamed starting at 7pm. Please use this link, copy and paste into a browser:

On June 12th, the water level at Wasa was 769.155 masl (meters above sea level). This will probably be the peak level for this water season.

This is 1.515 meters (4 feet 11.6 inches) higher than the same day last year.

Since the Kootenay River peaked in late May, its water level has dropped 3.21 meters (10feet 6 inches).

BC Hydro reports that Floe Lake still has 18.18 inches (46cm) of snow water equivalent.

Warm weather ahead should boost the river level that, in turn, will keep the lake level from dropping.

Check out the WLLID website – www.wasalake.ca – for the latest water data and Board activities.

See you at the pubic meeting on the 17th.
