The Wasa Lake Land Improvement District (WLLID) received its letters patent from the BC government, Ministry of Municipal Affairs.
Our mandate is to maintain a good quality and quantity of water in Wasa Lake.
We manage an information kiosk, water gauges, water testing equipment, and two flap gates attached to two culverts.
During the Spring and Summer water season, we monitor the water level during freshet to prepare for possible flooding.
In terms of quality, we test the water for dissolved oxygen, temperature, Secchi depth, cyanobacteria and E.coli levels to monitor for any significant changes that would negatively impact the water and aquatic life.
The WLLID Board is composed of 5 elected non-paid Trustees, one of which is the Chair. We hold regular monthly meetings (except December), send out monthly e-newsletters, publish information in the Tri-Village Buzz and keep an office at the Wasa Community Hall.
Funding for WLLID activities comes from the annual parcel tax.
